Château d'Ecouen - Musée national de la Renaissance
The national museum of the Renaissance was born from the wish of Andre Malraux, in 1969, to then offer a harmonious framework to the collections of the Renaissance in reserve with the museum of Cluny.
Built in the 16th century, the chateau of Ecouen, whose architecture is quasi intact and the partly preserved decoration, was the ideal place. Prestigious hanging of David and Bethsabée to the painted chimneys, while passing by the sculptures, furniture, ceramics, the glassmaking or goldsmithery, the museum proposes a complete panorama of the French and European Renaissance in its always renewed diversity.
