Château du Saussay
Located in the Essonne Valley between Corbeil and La Ferté-Alais, the Château du Saussey—which was burned and ravaged in the 16th century by the Spanish army during the siege of Corbeil—was rebuilt under the reigns of Henry IV and Louis XIII, then extensively altered prior to 1789. At that time, the château belonged to J.-B. de Bragelone, whose family was made famous by Alexandre Dumas.
It subsequently passed to Monsieur de Canclaux (son-in-law of the Vicomte de Bragelone) and then to his daughter, the wife of General de Colbert.
In 1968, Jacques de Bourbon Busset—a member of the Académie française—gifted the property to his children, who are the current owners.
The château is open to visitors on Sundays and public holidays from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. between April 1 and October 1, and daily during September (starting from the first Sunday of the month). Groups are welcome by appointment.
