THE FIRST COURT : it has a very particular importance. Indeed, these buildings sheltered a regiment of riders, principal defense of the castle. The other means of defense did not have any defensive role but represented a stylistic device to point out the military function of Simon II of Pouilly. In the center of the first court: the largest dovecote of the department. At the time, the dovecotes indicated the extent of the grounds seigneuriales; they were used for also guard to eat at one time when the visitors arrived many and without being announced.
At the top of the stables : a splendid sculpture of horse, " animal king " formerly.
THE PARK : The gate with dimensions park is raised sculptures with the various representations. The central wing is different from both others, that it is from the color of the stone or by the shape of the roofs, following successive work and debatable restorations.
The vault: its only interest is the tombstone of the Abbess of Juvigny on Loison, one of the most significant Benedictine abbeys, which had the relics of Holy Scholastique (similar to Saint Benoît Monks).century, which largely took as a starting point of Ovide's metamorphoses. THE INTERIOR COURT OR MAIN COURTYARD : It is characterized by an immense sculptural richness. The scenes reveal several schools. The whole of these sculptures took as a starting point engravings of Solomon, engraver of the XVth century, which largely took as a starting point of Ovide's metamorphoses. The principal gate : richly ornamented, warlike relief in stringcourse, characters representing the 4 elements.
