Description :

The castle of Pange is built on the site of a feudal castle " to the steps " of the duchy of Lorraine. On the 21th of February 1720, LĂ©opold, duke of Lorraine, installs Jean-Baptiste THOMAS, General Treasurer of extraordinary wars and grandson of Pierre THOMAS, Chancelier of Lorraine made lord by Charles IV in 1626, in this seigniory.
Then the construction of the current castle began, directed by architect J.B. LOUIS. The ground of Pange is set up in Marquisat by the duke Stanislas in 1766. The 3rd marquis de Pange, Louis, takes part with Lafayette in the battles for the independence of the United States of America and in the decisive battle of Yorktown. With the revolution, engaged in the " Catholic and Royal Army ", he died at the time of the second war of the Vendée in 1796. His brother Francois, friend of the poets Andre CHENIER and Madam of STAEL will not survive the revolution either.
