The Castle of Conros was erected in the early Middle Ages on a rocky spur overlooking the beautiful meander of the Cère river.
The imposing medieval dungeon, surrounded by a main building and two round towers, one of them with machicolation and topped with a conical broach roof, was transformed during the Renaissance into an impressive mansion. The beauty and purity of its architecture make it an hamonious building enhanced with a shaded park inviting the visitor to stroll around and enjoy nature.
Inhabited by the same family since 1556, Conros welcomes you :
In the chapel, a Merovingian sarcophagus in white marble, dicovered in 1988 at Arpajon-sur-Cère, testifies to life on the banks of the Cère river 1500 years ago.
The Museum of Popular Arts and Traditions offers a living testimony of the rural Upper Auvergne region.
The restoration of the castle is displayed in the guardroom of the castle through audio/visual means.
From the base of the South tower to the top of the dungeon and the machicolation of the North tower, the tour presents the lifestyle in the Middle Ages (guardroom, dressing room, seclusion room, bathroom).
The upper room of the castle is now dedicated to the permanent exhibition "Ode to perfumes".
The great hall of the Chateau has been dedicated to the Workshop "Ateliers de création de Senteurs".
